The World´s Best Knights August 3rd, 4th & 5th, 2010 The knights of the Royal Armouries in Leeds and the Wallace Collection in London, resident jousters of the Tower of London! (BEM: dette er rent grammatisk strengt taget ikke nogen sætning, der mangler en halvdel – hvad er det med disse riddere?) The group has won the World Joust Tournament in Leeds on three successive occasions, and very few – if indeed any – can call themselves the equal of these gentlemen regarding showmanship, professionalism, historical accuracy, and an extremely high degree of entertainment value. The Order of the Crescent may indeed be called the best jousting company in the world! The group is a 16th century reenactment group, which strictly speaking falls outside the scope of the early 15th century world of the Medieval Centre. Thus, the Centre will be divided into two separate areas (BEM: er dette fysisk muligt? Stødte vi ikke på fæle problemer med det?) on August 3rd, 4th and 5th. There will be a 16th century section where the two knights of the Order of the Crescent and their retinues will reside (app. 80 persons, enacted by the groups the Company of St. George and the St. Olavs Guild), and another section housing the Medieval Centre´s own knights and their retinues. Here, the development of the tournament through the ages is demonstrated, beginning with the Medieval Centre´s own knights, followed by a theatrical intermezzo – the Fall of Troy – and culminating in a spectacular 16th century tournament by the Order of the Crescent.
Shows: Tuesday 3rd and Wednesday 4th of August at 14.00 and 19.00 Thursday 5th of August at 14.00
The evening shows has an entry fee of Dkr. 20,- / person (access from 17.00. If you have purchased a day ticket, this will also give access in the evening). Duration: app. 120 minutes.
