Doomsday at the Medieval Center

On September 20th the world will end. At least at the Medieval Center… Plague, death and destruction will take over the museum on this season’s final Saturday. Here you can meet plague doctors, doomsday preachers and the Grim Reaper. Come – if you dare!

 

Doomsday has always haunted human imagination – then as now. Wars, epidemics and the climate crisis spark the same fears people had in the Middle Ages, when hunger, plague and unrest made life insecure. No wonder many feared God’s wrath and sought comfort in the Church.

 

But crises also brought new opportunities. After the plague, living standards rose, and peasants and craftsmen experienced better conditions.
